Interior Design & Landscaping Contest 6
- Rainbow fashion salon hangout -
The Challenge: Marcel21 brings us another great interior design and landscaping contest. Make a colorful and lush salon and hangout from the shell that has already been built (seen to the left). You can add anything outside just as long as you don’t removed things from the pool area that I have placed. Use rainbow as your inspiration on how you complete your style for the venue! Lots of color! Funkiness! Eye catching! Modern and lush The Rules: You cannot change the exterior walls, roof and decking. You cannot use any form of CC items My Thoughts: I always enjoy Marcel21's contest and the challenges of working with what is already build and transforming it into something new and different. Although I usually do much calmer colors, I am starting to get more comfortable with crazy color usage. But you can still see hints of my trademark modern natural touches. I have to give credit to the pool transformation to my silly husband. He was playing around and put a tree in the pool and I was like HmmMMmMMMmm! So yay for random spurts of creativity!
Gouka's Community Lot Contest
The Challenge: Finally at the end of the Serenity Point contests, Gouka has another challenge up her sleeve! Create a rabbit hole community lot using the specified size and rabbit hole. The lot should match the style of its neighborhood/environment.The Rules: The lot will be scored on how well it matches its neighborhood. The lots are listed by neighborhood below with a short description and picture. Sims must be able to enter and exit the rabbit hole with ease. This means they shouldn't get stuck or take an hour navigating a complicated maze to the front door. The lot size must match the requirement for that category. For example, the cinema must be built on a 25x25 lot. All lot sizes can be viewed below. My Thoughts: I have had a blast working on the Serenity Point world.. It has taken me above and beyond creativity I thought had. I urge you to check out all four of these creations, as I am super proud of them all! The cemetery was by far the most challenging for me since I loath landscaping but it is currently my favorite build of all time!
Traditionally Modern
Interior Design and Landscaping Contest
The Challenge: For this portion of the contest, you will need to design the interior and exterior of the pre-created house. Seems easy enough, right? But there is a catch. You will have a budget of $300,000 and you have to design the house according to this couple's requirements.
The Rules: You CAN change the floors and wallpaper. NOT the floor plan except deleting walls in the smaller rooms. You CAN add walls wherever you'd like.
You CANNOT change the windows, doors, roofs, and columns. You CAN change the color of the roof, but NOT the shape and no adding new roofs. You CANNOT remove or change fences or columns. You CAN add fences and columns anywhere you'd like. You CAN add windows and doors inside. NOT outside. You have a budget of $300,000. You will be judged according to how well you followed the requirements. CC is aloud but will not effect the judging. Judging will be based on photos, so make them good.
My Thoughts: I loved having free reign to decorate but also the challenge of not being able to change the floor plan while have to meet Sim's family needs. Also contests with budget limitation are always interesting! A Description: A traditional home with a Modern twist. All the cool calm colors and patterns found in a classic traditional home covers the blunt angles of the modern furniture. This home features a Master suite with walk-in closet and on-suite bathroom, a nursery, gym, art/photography studio, workshop, study and a gallery/entertaining room. . View more pictures here.

Author's Autumn Escape
Marcel21's Contest - My Entry
The Challenge: Build a home for Marcel's writer sim. Include rooms for guests, and a place for him to write.
The Rules: Cannot change the facade of the house, but you are free to add on to the rear of the house or change the interior floor plan.
My Thoughts: I am exhausted after this HUGE decorating challenge.. or at least it felt huge after all those 10x10's I had been working on for the Serenity Point contest.I love the way the floor plan came out and I was the only contestant to actually change the existing floor plan, so I am really proud of that. None the less, I loved the way it came out and I was thrilled to win third place . View more pictures here.

The Fitness Factory
Serenity Point 10x10 Community Lot Contest
The Challenge: Build a 10v10 lot that matches the theme of the neighborhood. A few have already been completed, but there are a lot left to do! Pick one (or more) and get creative!
The Rules: The lot will be scored on how well it matches its neighborhood. The lots are listed by neighborhood below with a short description and picture. Each lot must have room for several Sims to use its service at the same time without getting stuck. Lot size must be 10x10.
My Thoughts: I had a great time working with 10x10 lots for this contest. My last entry, the Fitness Factory, is def on of my faves! I put a lot of thought into the layout and it gave me a good amount of grief when it came to deciding what goes on what floor. Feel free to let me know what your thoughts are on my Serenity Point Blog post! Here is the description I added: Once home to the Fab Frames warehouse, this state of the art renovated fitness facility boasts a lap pool with a stationary swimming pump that allows Sims to swim in place against a moving currant of water. The Fitness Factory, often referred to as "The Factory", offers top of the line fitness equipment, a succulent smoothie bar, child care, a rock wall for the outdoor enthusiast, a yoga/dance studio, a sauna and locker room. Edna's Cozy Corner Home Daycare
Interior Design Challenge #3 – The Daycare
The Challenge: Renovate the old house to create a comfortable, stylish, daycare home business. The house must have a master bedroom, kitchen, at least one bathroom, and sleeping and play areas for 4 toddlers.
The Rules: You may MOVE any of the existing Objects on the lot, but they must remain on the lot. You may NOT MOVE or DELETE any Architectural Elements of the house, however, you may DELETE and REPLACE fences, railings, windows, columns and doors only (e.g. So you may replace a window with a new window...as long as it's the same size).
My Thoughts: After working on all those 10x10 entries for the Serenity Point contest, this 40x40 lot was very intimidating! BUT I have to say this is probably my favorite build! I tried to make it relaxing and very flowing. Here is a brief description: This at home daycare offers a large play area for children both indoors and out. The spacious floor plan includes 2 bedrooms, 2 and a half baths, a infant changing room, a home office and open living room. The updated kitchen offers plenty of seating at the bar or table, and a special playpen for young ones. See the contest thread here and the slideshow with more pictures!

The Shabby Chic Seaside Shanty Shack
Living room view.
The Challenge: Residents of Taz_Sutton's new world, Swift Island, Crow and Mermia Shanty are possibly the oldest residents on the island. Crow is rumoured to have once been the Cabin Boy on the good ship Aspira, that Captain Swift (the founder of the island) and his crew sailed on. Crow and Mermia are humble folk and love to spend their time by the sea whenever possible. Wanting to be as close to the sea as possible they put up a small shack down on the sea front, and now need to make it feel like home.
My thoughts: I really focused on how to bring the outside in on a budget, so the Shanty's would enjoy the nearby water and large open spaces. This is my second contest to ever enter but my first one dealing in the constraints of a budget. And a small $14,000 Simoleans at that! This Shabby Chic Seaside Shack features a large master-bedroom, open floor plan and a spacious living area. The large windows create an open environment with amazing views of the beach, ocean, nearby lighthouse and distant hills. See the more pictures here! Click here for contest details.
